Keron was born in Mareeba in 1965. After completing school Keron undertook undergraduate studies at the Australian National University in Canberra and graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours. Postgraduate studies followed at the University of Adelaide and his PhD in environmental science was conferred in 2001. Keron has worked for the Department of Primary Industries in Canberra and the Mareeba Shire Council.
He has always been a committed advocate for disability services in the area.Keron has served on the Management Committee of FlexiChoice (formerly Mareeba District Flexi-Support Assn Inc) in various capacities since 2012.
Mary Graham was born in Mareeba and has lived here all her life. She has served as a Councillor with the Mareeba Shire for the past 4 years and owned and operated a family business in town for more than 10 years. With 26 years’ managerial experience with a national company, Mary was a welcome addition to the FlexiChoice Management Committee in 2015.
Mary says that being a FlexiChoice Management Committee member gives her the opportunity to be a part of a team who are making a positive difference in the lives of others.
For many years Liza has been an active advocate for people who use wheelchairs and mobility equipment. Seen through her own perspective as someone who relies on the use of a wheelchair and mobility scooter, she actively liaises with Mareeba Shire Council to improve access to footpaths and buildings in our community.
Liza was born in Mareeba and moved to Cairns when she was 16. While in Cairns she worked for Outright Independence, now called Rights in Action. Liza returned to Mareeba to establish a life for her family. With Liza’s firsthand experience as a Service User, her appointment to the Management Committee in 2010 ensured regular valuable feedback was provided regarding the quality of FlexiChoice service delivery.
Joe Moro was born in Mareeba into a farming background. He is a mango farmer and is also involved in a motor mechanic business in town.
Joe’s position as President of Mareeba District Fruit and Vegetable Growers Assn since 1995, has led to his long involvement in various community groups and organisations, as well as a wide range of community economic development and social issues.
A few of the organisations Joe is currently involved with: President of Mareeba Chamber of Commerce, Past President Mareeba Rotary and current active Board member, Deputy Chair Tablelands Futures Corporation. Joe has represented the Mareeba area on a local, state and national basis and sees organisations such as FlexiChoice, an important and integral part of his community and hopes that he can lend his voice and talents to FlexiChoice.
